WELCOME TO EGBA NATIONAL
ASSOCIATION USA/CANADA
EGBA NATIONAL ASSOCIATION
USA/CANADA [ENA] is the umberella organization for all
Egba-Yewa Associations in USA and Canada.
Her objectives are:
- To promote the interest and welfare of one another.
- To protect the cultural heritage of
Egba and Yewa.
- To coordinate and intensify efforts in ensuring
effective dialogue amongst all Egbas and Yewa in Diaspora
for the promotion of humanitarian objectives in our
fatherland.
- To foster economic, social and educational development
in Egba and Yewa land.
- To seek the economic advancement of all descendants of
Egba/Yewa residing at home and abroad.
- To positively impact the lives of the descendants of
Egba/Egbado(Yewa) indigenes living at geographical locations
within the boundaries of Egba/Egbado(Yewa), in the
Southwestern area of Nigeria through, educational, social
and cultural projects, and, as well as, health and welfare
improvements.
Formation:
Egba
National Association USA/Canada was formed in 1999, initially by
three (3) associations of Egba and Yewa Descent. Shortly
thereafter, the association grew to six (6). Now Egba National
Association is proud of having fifteen (15) and three evolving chapters, spread
across continental USA and Canada.
Leadership
The organization is headed
by the National Chairman, supported by members of the National
Executives. Every month, the National Executives meet with the
Presidents and General Secretaries of each chapter, where the
policy and strategies on how to move the association forward are
discussed. The Joint National Executiv Council stand for and
perform the functions of the Board of Trustess of ENA.
Royal Grand Patron and Royal Patron
The Alake and Paramount Ruler of
Egbaland, HRH Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, Okukenu IV is the
Royal Grand Patron of Egba National
Association.
The Royal Patrons are:
- HRM Oba Dr. Adedapo Tejuosho,
Karunwin III, Osile Oke-Ona Egba
- HRM Oba Halidu Laloko, Sobekun II,
Agura of Gbagura
- HRM Oba Dr. Adesanya Dosumu, Amororo
II, Olowu of Owu
- HRM Oba Dr. Jacob Olufemi Omolade,Lafa II, Olubara of Ibara
National Patron & Matron
The National Patron is Late Chief
Dr. Augustus Kayode Kole-James, and Chief (Mrs) Bolajo
Sotomi-Kuti is the National Matron.
Conferences & Convention
Twice a year, Egba National Association hold National
Conferences, hosted by chapters. And every other year,
biennially, the association celebrates its own version of Lisabi
Day with a National Convention. All events are scheduled
for every Memorial and Labor Holiday weekends ( USA Holidays)
Membership
The membership of Egba National
Association USA/Canada comprises of associations formed and
registered with the appropriate State or Provincial authority
for descendants of Egba and Yewa in USA and Canada.
